Author, Speaker Offers
Educational Strategies
Sept. 11-13, 2006

Nathan Levy, speaker and nationally recognized author of the Stories With Holes series, There Are Those and many others, conducted a series of workshops recently for JISD students, parents, staff and administrators. The workshop at Nichols Intermediate took the form of a Parent/Community Night at which Mr. Levy offered practical strategies for motivating students and helping them learn to think. He also stressed the importance of communication between the schools and parents.

The next morning, at East Side Elementary, Mr. Levy presented to students in the JISD Gifted and Talented program from all four elementary campuses. He challenged them by having them solve stories from his Stories With Holes, having them participate in an interactive vocabulary activity and having them ask and receive answers to their questions.
Earlier in the week, Mr. Levy also met with first year teachers to discuss strategies for motivating students.
Nathan Levy is scheduled to return to Jacksonville in January for another series of workshops. Check the online calendar and be sure to attend on of these practical and beneficial meetings.
