Jean Gaylean, kindergarten teacher at Joe Wright Elementary, received an unexpected pat on the back recently. The educator, in her thirtieth year of teaching, was surprised to learn that she had been selected as "Teacher of the Month" as part of a new program created by Cherokee County Teachers' Credit Union. Larry Long, Manager of the Credit Union, and Misty Beene, Marketing Director, joined Joe Wright Principal Brad Stewart and Assistant Principal Tammy Cross in presenting notification of the award and a gift certificate to Mrs. Gaylean.








Mrs. Gaylean is the first teacher to recieve the award which was created by CCTCU as a way of "recognizing our outstanding teachers in Cherokee County," according to Mr. Long. The award will be presented to a teacher in each school district within Cherokee County with another outstanding JISD teacher receiving the award again in April, 2006. A special presentation has been scheduled for Mrs. Gaylean at an upcoming Board Meeting.
