Karen Land, Iditarod Race runner, visited Jacksonville Middle School as part of the school's Texas Public School Week events. She shared with students the adventures she experienced and the lessons she learned during the three times she ran the 1,150-mile Alaskan sled race.

Karen Land used a student to demonstrate the specialized clothing racers are required to wear to survive the harsh conditions of the Iditarod.
Accompanying Ms. Land on her visit to JMS was Borage, her sled dog.
