Health Class at JMS
Oct. 4, 2007

Madison Johnson, Paramedic with the Jacksonville Fire Department and EMS spoke to Jan Berry’s 8th Grade Health classes on Thursday, October 4. Mr. Johnson demonstrated how to take blood pressure and listen to their heartbeat using a stethoscope. In addition, he attached a heart monitor to one child in each class and printed a picture of their heart.

Mr. Johnson taught students symptoms of a heart attack, high blood pressure and diabetes. The students commented on the speaker by saying they had “learned a lot” and that they had “fun learning about the equipment”.
Mrs. Berry’s Health classes participate in the newly adopted district-wide curriculum Healthy and Wise.
