Jacksonville ISD announced Friday, November 16 that Lynn Dickerson, a Third Grade teacher at West Side Elementary School had been named the FISH! Award Recipient for October, 2007.

Jacksonville ISD announced Friday, November 16 that Lynn Dickerson, a Third Grade teacher at West Side Elementary School had been named the FISH! Award Recipient for October, 2007. The committee visited Mrs. Dickerson at the beginning of the 3rd grade program to present her with the award which includes donations from the following merchants: Dairy Queen, S. Jackson; Side Barber Shop; May Drugs; Gray Cleaners; Pams Cleaner; Movie Gallery; Sonic; Country Charm Candles; Rainbows End; Antiqued; Chilis; SAY Plastics; Texas Basket and Hairport.

Mrs. Dickerson was selected because she best exemplified the qualities of the FISH! Philosophy which the district has adopted as a focus for the 2007-2008 school year. The letter from a staff member at West Side ES nominating Mrs. Dickerson said that Being prepared, knowledgeable, tolerant, flexible, and understanding is what Lynn does to Make the Day of her students. The environment in her classroom is positive and encouraging so that students feel safe and each one is provided with the opportunity to be successful every day.

The FISH! Award is given each month to the JISD employee that best represents the spirit of the FISH! Philosophy: Be There, Play, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude. Others nominated for the October award included: Judy Terry. Nominations are made by anonymous entries and nominees not selected may be nominated again.
