At the regular meeting of the JISD Board of Trustees on January 22, 2007, Carol Shields introduced Ms. Jenny Magouyrk as the recipient of the 21st Century Teaching Award for January 2007. She is a teacher at the High School in the Career and Technology Department and teaches dual credit accounting, business, and personal finance. Dr. Folden presented Ms. Magouyrk with a framed certificate and thanked her for contribution to educating the students of JISD.

Superintendent Stuart Bird praised the current Board of Trustees for the outstanding job they do for the District and the students. He added that he feels that both the Community and the District are fortunate to have such dedicated members representing them. As a tribute to the Board, each campus had constructed a poster saluting the Board, and also the JHS Choir “Expressions”, accompanied on the keyboard by Jan Childs, performed two songs for the Board. Choir Director, Janet Gandy, then introduced and recognized a JHS 11th grader for having been selected 4th Chair on the Texas Music Educators’ Association All State Choir. Dr. Folden thanked Mr. Bird, the campuses, and the Expressions and congratulated the All State Choir winner on her achievement.
