Jacksonville ISD Employee Benefits Program
JISD teachers are paid according to the state salary schedule. Teachers with a Master’s degree are paid an additional $250 annually. Service incentives are given in 5-year increments. The District awarded over $30,000 to employees in service incentives at the conclusion of the 2001-2002 school term. Employees continuing their education will earn a $50 stipend for each pre-approved completed college course. All employees are paid once a month. Direct deposit and automatic deductions are available at the employee’s request. The Cherokee County Teachers’ Federal Credit Union is available for saving and loan needs.
The district provides each employee with a group insurance plan. Jacksonville ISD participates in TRS-ActiveCare. This is a comprehensive health care and prescription drug program. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is the medical plan administrator. Merck-Medco administers the prescription drug program. The state and district contributes $225.00 monthly toward the premium per employee. Each full-time employee who meets eligibility requirements also receives $41.66 monthly in his/her paycheck to help defray the cost of health care. There are three (3) plans offered by TRS-ActiveCare. Premiums vary; depending on which plan is selected. For an overview of the plans, you can visit the TRS website, www.trs.state.tx.us/trs-activecare. All employees have the option of selecting any or all of the following supplemental benefits: cancer plans, disability plans, life insurance plans, annuity plans, medical reimbursement plans, and childcare reimbursement plans. The employee has the option to participate in the “Cafeteria Plan” (authorized by the Internal Revenue Code), which allows monthly premiums to be deducted from his/her pay before taxes.
