JISD Board of Trustees President, Dr. Larry Folden, presents Charles Silvertooth with the October 2007 21st Century Teacher Award at the October 22 Board of Trustees meeting.

JISD is excited to announce Charles Silvertooth as the recipient of the 21st Century Teaching Award for October 2007. Charles Silvertooth is a BCIS teacher at Jacksonville High School and for the third year is teaching the Community Training Night Classes. Mr. Silvertooth is very knowledgeable about the use of the computer having previously served as a Computer Software Support Technician and spending 28 years in the corporate electronics field. He has been with the district for three years.

According to Mr. Silvertooth “The CTN classes are set-up so that participants can choose the training that best fits their needs. We have a basic class in a topic and the next week will offer an enhanced class.” Community Training Night primary goals are to assist community members in developing computer skills to upgrade workplace skills, to provide a better understanding of the technology tools available and support participants in the use of technology they own.

JISD greatly appreciates the time that Charles Silvertooth has devoted to building the Community Training Night program. “CTN is a great resource for community members,” according to Leanne Jamison, Director of CTE. “Mr. Silvertooth’s knowledge and experience provides attendees invaluable technology related skills.”

CTN is sponsored by the Jacksonville High School Department of Career and Technology Education. Community Training Night is held Tuesday nights from 5:30pm-7:30pm throughout the school year in room 404 of the Career and Technology building on the Jacksonville High School Campus. There is a $5.00 registration fee for each course which may be paid the night you attend. To register for sessions visit: www.jisd.org/CATEcntreg.htm or call the CTE office, 903-586-1021.
